Ingredients:

Rice Flour Dough:
1 cup rice flour
2 cups water
½ tablespoon oil
½ teaspoon salt

Ragi Dough:
½ cup rice flour
½ cup ragi flour
2 cups water
½ tablespoon oil
½ teaspoon salt

Coconut Filling:
1 tablespoon ghee
½ cup grated coconut
¼ cup jaggery
¼ teaspoon cardamom powder

Peanut Filling:
½ cup roasted groundnuts (powdered)

Instructions:

1. Prepare Rice Flour Dough:
In a pan, boil 2 cups of water.
Add ½ tablespoon oil and ½ teaspoon salt.
Slowly add 1 cup of rice flour to the boiling water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Mix well, then cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.

2. Prepare Ragi Dough:
Follow the same process as for rice flour dough, but mix ½ cup of rice flour and ½ cup of ragi flour before adding to the boiling water.
Stir well, cover, and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

3. Coconut Filling:
Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan.
Add ½ cup of grated coconut and ¼ cup of jaggery.
Stir the mixture until the jaggery melts and blends with the coconut.
Add ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder and cook until the filling comes together. Set aside to cool.

4. Peanut Filling:
Roast ½ cup of groundnuts and grind them into a fine powder.
No need to cook this filling further; just set it aside.

5. Shaping the Modaks:
Knead the dough (both rice flour and ragi) while it's still warm to make it smooth.
Take a small portion of the dough, roll it into a ball, and flatten it into a small disc.
Place a spoonful of either coconut or peanut filling in the center, then carefully fold and seal the edges to form a Modak shape.
Repeat the process with both rice flour and ragi dough.

6. Steaming the Modaks:
Steam the Modaks in a steamer for about 7 minutes, or until they are cooked through and soft.
Ensure the Modaks don’t dry out by keeping them covered after steaming.

7. Serving:
Your soft, delicious Rice Flour Modak and Ragi Modak are now ready!
These Modaks can stay fresh and soft for up to 6-7 hours without drying out, making them perfect for your Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

Tips:
Keep the dough covered to prevent it from drying out.
Ensure the dough is kneaded while still warm for smoother Modaks.
You can use a Modak mold for shaping if you prefer.
