In this video, I will demonstrate supply chain planning using the example of planning the wing of the Dreamliner 787. Such complex structures as an airplane require coordination of many participants in the supply chain. In this example, the wing is manufactured by Mistubishi Japan, Spirit US, KAA KOrea, Boeing US and Canada, Fuji Japan, Kawasaki Japan, Goodrich US.
The example assumes that each of them has at least one strategic supplier of key materials. To assemble all the components, a 747 Dreamlifter aircraft must be sent to the assembly plant in South Carolina.
The transport time is from 1 to 2 days. See how it could look on the schedule. Because Boeing uses one plan to coordinate all subcontractors.
