Thrifting in the busy Johannesburg CBD can be overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect. In this video I show you how to get there, what to do while you’re there and what you can expect to find on your thrifting trip.

I have been running an online thrift store for over 7 years now and here I give you some insight on how to thrift as safe as possible.

Other notes worth mentioning:

* This thrifting place is all outdoors, this is why it isn’t always safe as there are a lot of people walking around. This also means that it wouldn’t be a good idea to go on a rainy day.
* There are ATMs at the station but the vendors don’t have card facilities - so bring cash along.
* Leave your valuables at home, the less things you have, the less likely you are to lose them.
* You can find many things here, clothes, shoes, accessories etc.
* Set aside a full day if you’re serious about finding good items at the best prices. The bargain baskets all have treasures but you need to have time to dig in and look for them. So don’t be in too much of a rush.
* Lastly, be vigilant of your surroundings. Make sure you’re aware if someone is following you or anything of the sort, take a friend along, this can help in terms of safety greatly.
