A leisurely walk and fly around and along the River Camel in this video, following the route of the Bodmin and Wenford railway line constructed in 1888, that starts at Wenfordbridge and finishes in Padstow an route of 18 miles.
The railway originally was used for freight for many years hauling stone from the Wenfordbridge De Lank quarries and out to the ports of Wadebridge and Padstow, then in later years it was used for carrying passengers and the opening and connection of the Bodmin and Wenford line to the North Cornwall railway brought much needed tourists to the area and places along the route.
The North Cornwall Railway was a railway line running from Halwill in Devon to Padstow in Cornwall via Launceston, Camelford and Wadebridge, a distance of 49 miles, it was part of a drive by the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) to develop holiday traffic to Cornwall, it was constructed in several sections and finally terminated at Wadebridge Junction in 1899.
