Best Hard Drives for Editing

Best external hard drives for editing photos and 4K videos. This video covers fast external SSD drives, including the NVMe M.2 SSD drive.
*IMPORTANT* Be aware that read/write speeds, quality of drive connection, reliability, and protection of data can vary wildly from manufacturer, computer, and accessories you use. If you are unsure, then go with the Samsung T5 SSD drive listed below. Do NOT build your own NVMe M.2 SSD and trust that setup with client data. Always, always, ALWAYS have a backup strategy and keep your important data on second, redundant drive.

To put it in a more simple way:
1. Trust the Samsung T5 and X5 for professional work, and these will give you a minimum of fuss.
2. The Samsung 870 SATA in most cases should give you about what you'd get with the Samsung T5, but at 4TB (double the size).
3. Use the NVMe for hobby, or if you do use for professional work, make sure you test well, and know what you're getting into, e.g., thunderbolt limitations, read vs. write consistency, QLC vs. TLC, etc. If you don't understand what these mean, then don't get into the NVMe system -- and instead go with the other drives I mentioned.
