Understanding the 2024/25 Ugandan Budget

The Ugandan government annually presents its national budget, outlining financial allocations and priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. Understanding the budget is crucial for stakeholders and citizens, especially the youth since they constitute almost 75% of the population. Research in 2023 showed that most Ugandan youth are ignorant of their roles in the budget processes, and this has affected government allocations as less resources are allocated to youth priorities which has left the young people vulnerable, unseen and unheard.
This virtual information sharing session therefore intends to highlight and explain the budget overview, process and key components of the budget to the young people.
The session will also give an insight into Kenya’s recently debated finance bill 2024, concentrating on the lessons taken while relating it to Uganda’s national budget 2024/25 and the youth population
