Panicale, storico e pittoresco paese in Provincia di Perugia, ubicato in cima ad una Collina a 440 m s.l.m. deve il suo aspetto alle origini medioevali di cui ancora oggi ne conserva tutte le caratteristiche strutturali e architettoniche.

Panicale, paese medievale posto nelle colline a sud del Lago Trasimeno, può vantare oltre ai suoi splendidi panorami e alle suggestive vedute anche una grande quantità di opere d'arte più o meno importanti spicca sicuramente fra queste l'Affresco del Martirio di S. Sebastiano dipinto dal Pietro Vannucci detto " Il Perugino". Anche la quattrocentesca fontana posta in Piazza Umberto I° è sicuramente da annoverare le i pezzi pregiati del Paese. Si possono Trovare inoltre affreschi del Caporali, strutture come il Teatro Comunale, la Collegiata di san Michele, la Chiesa della Madonna della Sbarra, il trecentesco Palazzo del Podestà oggi archivio storico comunale, un tempo sede del potere politico.

Le origini di Panicale si perdono nella notte dei tempi, infatti la sua posizione estremamente strategica sia da un punto di vista ambitale ( lontano dalle paludi delle pianure) militare e polito ha fatto sì che le popolazioni locali, anche le più antiche abbiano scelto il crinale est del Monte Petrarvella quale luogo per insediarsi e vivere.
