King of the Roads 2023 - BKSA Wingfoil Race event - Kitesurfkit/Wingfoilkit aka Peter Stephens

The first BKSA Wing Race event of the year was delivered in conjunction with support from our local Kernow Kitesurf Club. This ‘King of The Roads’ delivered on everything bar a strong enough wind over the weekend to run our Wing Foil competition.

We did have the most amazing Cornish Sunshine, a huge turnout of the leading brands displaying their gear – a great Party at Café Mylor in the setting sun on Saturday Evening – E-Foiling demos in front of the centre - Clinics on foiling in the event zone –

This was combined with a great turnout of visitors and competitors from all over the country.

With the amazing feedback from this weekend, we are already making plans to be back in 2024 to join Coastland and their wingfoil coaching team. Coastland and the Carrick Roads is just amazing for this style of event– an expansive sheltered harbour which works well at all states of tide and in most wind directions - Camping and campervan pitches – changing rooms / showers – plenty of parking and all just a short stroll from Mylor Yacht Harbour.

To the purveyors of our Wing foiling fix. They all went above and beyond displaying an extensive range of Wing and foiling gear in a really professional and visually exciting way -
Fanatic and Duotone – F-One – Slingshot/ Ride Engine – Armstrong – Starboard & Free Wing – North – Neil Pryde – AFS – Ensis and FBC – and of course not forgetting Unifoil and Appletree from Newquay. Viking Foils based at Stithians Lake ran E foiling sessions almost continually on both days and gave many people a real fun foiling experience. We also had great feedback on the Downwind Foiling Clinic run by local paddling guru, Glen Eldridge from Ocean Sports Centre at Carbis Bay.

The one thing that was undeniable from everyone that attended, is that there is ‘visible stoke’ with the evolution of where this amazing sport is going. Wing foiling and foiling in general is certainly on a fast upward trajectory.

The King of the Roads event was put together and run by Peter Stephens from Kitesurfkit and Wingfoilkit with a great team of volunteers who are all keen to start planning a similar event in 2024!
