Jailed Amritpal Singh likely to contest Lok Sabha elections from Punjab's Khadoor Sahib seat

Amritpal Singh, currently in Dibrugarh jail, plans to run as an independent candidate for the Khadoor Sahib seat in Punjab's upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He is the chief of 'Waris Punjab De' outfit and was arrested in April last year. The NSA was invoked against him and nine associates, and they are currently held in Dibrugarh jail. Singh, modelled after the slain Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, was arrested in Rode village of Moga on April 23, 2023.
