Today we have another amazing South Korea adventure with fellow vlogger @filipinoboo ! We go out into the streets of Seoul South Korea at Night and see what type of Seoul nightlife activities we can get into. The nightlife we end up finding I think is a bit different than what you expect!!
Batting Cages in South Korea (The National Sport):
When we got off the Seoul Subway in ____ we immediately noticed a small coin-operated batting cage and thought it would be a cool thing to try it out. We both haven't played baseball in years, so giving it another whirl in a country that LOVES baseball sounded like an epic idea. After meeting up with FilipinoBoo and eating some traditional Korean food at a local restaurant and hiking up a small mountain in the area. He brought us down to the batting cages to take a few hacks. Let's just say we were rusty. The first few rounds were an atrocious frenzy of whiffed swings and foul balls but after the rustiness wore off it started to go a lot better. That is where filipinoboo left us for a few hours to go back to teach and we decided to keep taking at bats and go over to the only dessert place we could see around us... Dunkin Donuts.. AGAIN!! It's really not all that bad though, Dunkin Donuts in South Korea is surprisingly incredible. The quality is super high and they really seem to value freshness (fresh donuts throughout the day, fresh sandwiches, fresh smoothies, etc).
Seoul South Korea Nightlife?:
After finishing our Dunkin and taking a few more rounds of pitches, it was time to head back to the hospital and meet up with filipinoboo once again. He told us he was going to take us to a street where we can eat a lot of food and he asked if we want to walk. WE ALWAYS WALK. So of course we said yes, not quite knowing how far this walk was actually going to be. We walked through a beautiful and peaceful park along the Han River for a few hours. Underneath bridges, across streets, and through the woods until it started to seem like our guide was a little lost. We left the safety of the park and started walking on the streets, trying to connect to a massive fish market down the street. For some reason, there was no walking path to cross a HUGE highway separating us from our fish market goal and we had to resort to some unconventional tactic... which means we start climbing down the sides of hills, jumping over gutters, and walking through the woods! It was an ADVENTURE and it was super fun to do something crazy like that again in a city where many people are reserved and quiet. After attempting to find even a semi-passable way across the freeway over and over, we made one last-ditch effort of running down the fracking highway!! We sprinted through a highway tunnel hoping it would lead us to a path. Cars, trucks, and buses were flying by as we laughed and ran through these (definitely not made for pedestrians) road tunnels until we made it to the other side.
South Korea Street Food at Seoul Night Market:
Eventually, after all that adventuring, we made it to a street market. Going into Korea we knew a few of the famous street foods, the night before we even ate a few of them, but we didn't know anything more than the basics. This is where having a fellow vlogger guide helped us the most. He's a local of the area and knew some delicious spots and food that we would have never found otherwise. We tried Korean Rice Bowls which was an amazing dish filled with so many ingredients like rice, spicy pork, caviar, kimchi, spam, and more! We chowed those down (spicier than expected) and moved on to the next place,.
The Cheapest Hotel in Seoul, South Korea (Itaewon):
To end the video we show you what the cheapest hotel in Seoul is like. We were super surprised we found a hotel in Itaewon South Korea for so cheap. It clocked in at only $27 a night, which compared to almost everything else in the city, was at least half the price. It was nothing special, a small bed and a small bathroom in a very small room but it was 100% worth the price in a place that is so expensive.
