WW2 German Bunkers, Jersey

Описание к видео WW2 German Bunkers, Jersey

Following the occupation of the Channel Islands by the German Occupied Forces in 1940, bunkers and fortifications were constructed all around the coastline of Jersey.
The people of Jersey who chose to remain on the island lived under the German occupation for 5 years from 1940 to 1945 during WW2. Locals were given the opportunity to help build the Underground Hospital now known as the Jersey War Tunnels. These locals were treated well and paid a good salary. The Slaves who came from places like Russia and Spain and who built many of the fortifications around the island were forced to work beyond human endurance and treated cruelly by those in charge.
Today the Jersey Occupation Society aims to preserve these structures from the past and they open bunkers to the public on set days.
