a deadly shooting just rocked the CDC And you have staff saying we need to talk not only about security, but the lies they say that fueled this. right, because on Friday at 5 p.m. You had Atlanta police getting a 911 call about an active shooter at a CVS across from CDC headquarters. with the shooter reportedly trying to enter CDC buildings, but was stopped by security. you had dozens of bullets hitting at least four CDC buildings, damaging walls and windows. rookie officer and former Marine David Rose was shot responding to the scene, and he later died in the hospital. and the shooter was found dead on the cvs second floor, though it was unclear if he did it or it was police gunfire. right, as far as the shooter, it was Patrick Joseph White, a 30 year old man who lived with his parents in Kennesaw, Georgia. with neighbors notably saying he became fixated on vaccines, especially Covid 19, believing that it caused him depression and s****dal thoughts. saying Among other things, he often brought up vaccines in unrelated conversations. now as far as the reactions, you had CDC Director and Health Secretary RFK Jr expressing condolences with staff working remote during a security assessment. but then also you had the CDC workers union demanding repairs before they return In a federal statement condemning vaccine disinformation. and you even had the group fired But fighting blaming RFK Jr for vilifying CDC staff. now, with all that, the investigation’s still ongoing into motive and how the attack unfolded. but we are seeing calls growing for the government to push back on vaccine misinformation to at least help protect public health workers. though you have many There saying given what we've seen from this administration, it's probably best not to hold your breath.
