Everyone knows about Chandigarh. It is one of the most popular cities in India. Being the capital of two states, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh is famous for its clean roads and greenery. There are many tourist spots in The City Beautiful which attract visitors very much. Apart from the famous Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, Rose Garden or Sector 17, there are a few more additions to these spots and one of them is Chandigarh Bird Park.

This park is set up by the UT forest and Wildlife Department in an area of approx six acres.

There are 550 exotic birds of 48 different species available to explore in the first phase of this park. There is greenery all around the park and is spread over the land to make the birds feel at home. In a huge area where birds are being made captive; still can fly from one place to another easily due to the space. There are many species of aquatic and terrestrial birds in different compartments. The tracks are constructed in such a way that you get a feel of the hilly area.
This park’s foremost motive is to provide preservation, restoration, nutrition of birds and also to provide breeding to endangered birds of India. The Bird Sanctuary Chandigarh is doing a wonderful job to provide ideal habitat for all the exotic birds.

Besides Bird Park, there are some different sections for additional enjoyment too. Nature Trail, Nakshatra Vatika, Navgarh Vatika, Rashi Vatika are the small gardens to let sink in nature’s lap. There is a Kids Area with some swings and slides to enjoy and also a cafeteria to get yourself or your kids some refreshments on the trip.

You can see African Love Birds, White Swans, Finches, Yellow Gold Pheasant, Black Swan. Apart from these, you can also have a glimpse of Green Wing Macaw, Blue Gold Macaw, African Gray Parrot, Rainbow Lorikeets and many more. You can feed or even touch these species under the guidance of staff.

The best time to visit Bird Park Chandigarh is between November and March when the weather is cool. Also, your eyes can catch these birds during the morning time as they are more at that time.

Bird Park is near Sukhna Lake Chandigarh. It is situated in Sector 1 at Nagar Van Area just behind the famous Sukhna Lake. This park is just 10 min away from Sukhna Lake by walking. You can find a proper parking area which is allocated to park your vehicles. So, you can avoid any inconvenience.

Chandigarh Bird Park timings are between 10:00 morning to 5:00 evening, 5 days in a week i.e. it is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Park is open for everyone from 17th November 2021.

Bird Park Chandigarh ticket price is

50 INR for Adults and
30 INR for children below the age of 12 years.

If you are an outsider and want to plan a trip to Chandigarh to see this wonderful Bird Park then get a bus, train or flight to reach the city. After that, you can take local buses or auto-rickshaws to travel within the city.

If you are completely new to the City Beautiful, then try to reach Sector 17 bus stand. From there you can easily get some public transportation to reach Sector 1.

Garden Of Silence

At a distance of 7 km from Chandigarh Bus Station, Garden of Silence is a meditative place located at the end of the Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh. It offers serene view of Shivalik Range and is one of the must visit places in Chandigarh.

The garden features a seated Buddha amidst concentric circular stairs. The garden is financed by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and developed by Chandigarh Administration. This is the latest tourist attraction in Chandigarh. Chandigarh is known as the city of gardens that are lush green and have some amazing features but this garden of silence is a bit different. This garden has been specially built for meditating purposes, as surrounding areas are very peaceful and full of greenery which makes it a perfect place for meditation.
