Nadiya Shafi reports from Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir for Video Volunteers.
Farmers whose land is going to be acquired for Semi Ring road connecting Pampore in South Kashmir with Manigam Ganderbal in North and Central Kashmir via Budgam are in protest against the unfair land compensation being paid to them against the land acquired by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). The 60 Km long road is connecting Pampore with Ganderbal district and is meant to smooth the traffic flow on the highway. In Budgam alone, 4000 kanals of land is being acquired to serve the purpose. Most of the land in Budgam has apple orchards, peach, cherry, rice on it. The farmers blame authorities of paying unfair amounts against the land.
