before range test flight I ALWAYS do:

-f.ly only in unpopulated area like mountainous areas that avoid by manned aircraft for safety reason.
-pre-flight check of the drone system
-check flight route condition & status, check air traffic using flightradar24 gold
-respect local culture & wisdom and people privacy
-measuring range using google earth
-plan B: always prepare a backup landing area for air and ground safety.

please note, range test can only be done by experienced people.
