HOLLYWOOD HILLS: ARCHITECTURE TOUR

Описание к видео HOLLYWOOD HILLS: ARCHITECTURE TOUR

This was quite the tour... and de-tour. Let me explain. So we head to the Hollywood Hills to go on an architecture tour featuring the works of John Lautner. A student of Frank Lloyd Wright, Lautner did most of his work in the 1950s and '60s in southern California and is best known for pioneering the Googie style. That is that futuristic, space-age, Jetsons-looking design. I thought it'd be nice to go up Franklin Canyon since it's closed to cars, but then I forgot that Mulholland is closed to cars AND bikes! Those mudslides from all the rain a few months ago sure take a long time to clean up. And that little, tiny, curve that shut down the road led to me going down the mountain and then back up Nichols Canyon to get to our first destination - a 7 mile detour! Shows how vital Mulholland Drive is. But once the tour begins, we see some fabulous, one-of-a-kind homes that you can't find anywhere else. A bit hard to see, but you know they're there and what you can see is pretty special. We certainly cover a lot of ground and see some remarkable homes on this tour!
