As more floodwater recedes across Skagit County, the damage left behind is starting to reveal itself on what seems like every corner.

People whose homes and businesses were underwater just last week, now face a long, and uncertain, road of recovery and cleanup. Meanwhile, the potential for more rain and flooding looms overhead.

Gov. Bob Ferguson made several stops across Skagit County on Sunday, including one to Boots Bar and Grill in the small Town of Hamilton.

"I opened the door and I started crying, because everything was just piled up," said Theresa Boots, the bar's owner.

The family-owned business was nearly empty Sunday afternoon, while Boots and her staff cleared tables and chairs caked in mud. They filled truckloads and drove them to dumpsters overflowing with debris just down the road.

"Devastation," Boots described her last week. "I mean, my house got hit, my bar got hit."

The 11-year owner told KOMO News that standing water reached four feet inside the business, destroying furniture, appliances, and Boots' electrical system. Boots had just rebuilt the bar and an exterior wall less than two years ago.

It's the worst flooding Boots said she's ever experienced in Hamilton.

"Last time we got maybe a foot in here," she continued, "but this has just wiped out everything. We're going to have to start all over."
