Imagine your entire body freezing, leaving you in pain and unable to move for hours at a time. This was what Chris Olsen lived through almost daily until she received a Parkinson's treatment that turned her life around.

Chris has lived with Parkinson's disease for over 18 years. She and her husband, Harold, are strong advocates for the Parkinson's community, and helped Parkinson Society British Columbia lobby the provincial government for funding and increased access to Duodopa therapy. Duodopa is a levodopa/carbidopa intestinal gel delivered by a pump worn outside of the body. This intervention helped Chris, and so many others like her, return to a normal way of life.

April is Parkinson's Awareness Month. Increasing public awareness of this disease, and the needs of the Parkinson's community in BC, helps our organization advocate for better care for people like Chris and her family. To learn more, visit www.parkinson.bc.ca/awareness
