As the top of the food chain in North America, grizzly bears are known to many as fearsome animals, and depending on the circumstances they can be. One unique feature of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks is that these animals, although by no means tame and still very dangerous, are not threatened by humans. There's no hunting pressure and the only negative contact they get is being hazed away from roads or buildings if they get too comfortable. They get accustomed to seeing people and are often quite happy to go on about their day to day lives in the presence of people, which gives us such a valuable and unique ability to just be in the present moment with these amazing creatures as they live their lives.
