Cristal is the Tête de Cuvée of Louis Roederer. In Champagne, this refers to the top of the range of a specific house or grower's wines

It was 1st created in 1876 for Alexander II, Tsar of Russia

He commissioned that the bottles be made clear and with a flat bottom because he feared assassination
.
The bottles used to be made with leaded crystal, hence the name
.
The gold wrapping isn’t just for show. The shiny cellophane is actually anti-UV, which protects the clear-bottles wine from damaging sun rays that can quickly cook a wine
.
The hip-hop community boycotted Cristal. Most notably. Jay-Z soon after started his own brand and has since skyrocketed!
