Chen Chin-tsai (陳進財)

Born in Changhua in 1929, he went to Japan as a naval worker when he was young and obtained a high school diploma.

At the age of 22, he was implicated in the case of “Taiwan Democratic Self-government League, Chen Tsuan-ti and others case”(臺灣民主自治同盟陳篡地等) and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. While being imprisoned in the Green Island “New Life Correction Center”, he was elected as a “mess council member”, and was involved in the "Green Island Re-rebellion Case"(綠島再叛亂案), Although he was eventually proved to be innocent, he was badly tortured and starved during the interrogation.

After being released in 1960, he devoted himself to his family business and never mentioned his experience in prison. It wasn't until his 85th birthday that he solemnly told his family and younger people about his suffering those 10 years.
