A must for any wine lover
I am a wine lover and a part time wine professional. I have opened countless bottles of wine with every kind of opener imaginable. Nothing is easier to use and does a better job. Since I have gotten mine I have bought more as gifts for my wine drinking friends. Some are hesitant to switch from traditional corkscrew openers, and I tell them there comes a time to switch from a slide rule to a calculator.
The Secura removes the cork fairly slowly, because it emphasizes torque over speed. I use it for both natural cork and synthetic stoppers; and it performs well for both. Really old corks that disintegrate during extraction will always be a problem. For any cork or stopper in reasonable condition this has worked well.
