After hearing Mdou (from the city of Agadez in Niger) on the wonderful Music for Sahara cellphones compilation, I invited Mdou and his band to my home in Berlin where we exchanged our music for a week. During this period I recorded a softspoken hypnotic, mesmerizing jam called J'ai pas le choix. I want to thank Christopher Kirkley, a contemporary Alan Lomax, who is releasing really special stuff on his SahelSounds label. (Thomas Azier).
