The Tribe of Nerds is the ultimate podcast for nerds everywhere! We cover everything from movies to reality TV. My name is Jake Borucki and I started Tribe of Nerds in 2020 as an avid Survivor and Marvel super fan! I enjoy movies like Marvel, Star Wars, as well as video games such as Pokemon, and I have been a fan of Survivor since I was 12 years old. I wanted to start a podcast from my inspiration watching a Survivor player Rob Cesternino go on to make his own podcast his career. From there, I got 4 of my college friends JJ, Will, Josh, and Gabe to start making content on Marvel and Star Wars, while I recorded my own Survivor conversations during the global pandemic.
After a couple years of searching for what I wanted to do outside of the podcast, I came across an application for an online Survivor charity game called Survivor Vanquish. I had known of the minor existence of these online reality games (ORGs) through a game I tried to play in the midst of jury duty and as a result didn’t do well. I thought nothing else of the application until I was contacted to play in that season. Little did I know that it would change my entire life for the better.
I met a lot of people and ultimately fulfilled a dream of mine to win Survivor, even if it was not on an island. In 2023, I joined Vanquish production and ended up meeting 3 people that would become some of my closest friends. Pirate Sara, Kevin, and Cameron came into my life through the seasons that followed mine and after conducting cast interviews that I would keep up through the season immediately following, I invited all 3 to be a part of the podcast. We began talking about Survivor which I had not had been able to discuss with others that much before. This turned into us discussing more movie franchises such as Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Transformers.
Since then, we have continued to expand! We brought on Vanquish hosts Kristin and Shane, another college friend Austin who had bonded with me over Survivor after college, Michael who hails from overseas, my Survivor Vanquish cast mate Gregg, and fellow podcasters Ryan and Joe! Our accomplishments have included getting to interview over 20 former Survivor contestants from around the world, meeting up in Florida for Survivor charity events and Vanquish family reunions, and growing our content to cover more shows such as Deal or No Deal Island, Traitors, Invincible, and LOST!
We hope to continue to grow and fulfill our goals of enjoying our time together and entertain people with our variety of content! We hope to see you all next time on the Tribe of Nerds!
