National Research Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (Lobachevsky University, UNN) was founded in 1916. After the Bolshevik Revolution, it became the first restored university of Soviet Russia. In 1956, because of its outstanding scientific results, the university was named after Nicholas Lobachevsky, famous Russian mathematician. Nowadays Lobachevsky University is one of the leading Russian universities, winner of international and national projects in the field of science & education, awardee of the prestigious public category “National Research University”, participant of the Russian Academic Excellence Project “5-100”. The UNN main campus is located in the historical centre of Nizhny Novgorod. Nizhny Novgorod (former Gorky) is the capital of the Volga Federal District of #Russia, one of the most important Russian industrial & cultural centres (more than 1,5 million inhabitants). They can stay in the “lobby”-type dorm (shared kitchens, toilets and washrooms at the floor) or “flat”-type dorm (2-bedroom blocks). The pricing and kit of services depend on the chosen dorm type. The university offers more than 300 accredited vocational, undergraduate (Bachelor & Specialist) and postgraduate (Master & PhD) programmes. A number of them is taught in English (such Bachelor`s programmes as “International Relations”, “Economics”, “Fundamental Computer Science & Information Technology”, Master`s programmes majoring in “International Relations”, “Sociology”, “Management”, and PhD in Sociology of Management). UNN students are encouraged to participate in international mobility with over 100 international partners of Lobachevsky University, including ERASMUS+ exchanges, summer schools and the Double Degree option. UNN also provides summer schools & comprehensive training for students who study Russian as a foreign language (including the Foundation course for those who plan to study in Russian). Foreign nationals can undergo a test in Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL) and receive an international TORFL certificate confirming the level of their proficiency in the Russian language. University alumni receive a national diploma of higher education indicating the respective degree (qualification) and area of studies (specialty). The European Diploma Supplement may also be issued to alumni on their request.
