In this video, I’m diving deep into the surprisingly fascinating world of scissors. We’re talking types, blades, handles, metals, and yes—even the topic of “air cutting” (spoiler: don’t do it). Whether you're just getting into sewing or you've had a trusty pair of shears for years, this is the guide you didn’t know you needed.

I’ll show you the difference between knife-edge blades and serrated ones. We’ll also chat about carbon steel vs. stainless steel, which is sharper, which lasts longer, and which rusts faster ... but why are they near water anyways?!. There's also a bit about left-handed scissors, why size matters (or doesn’t), and how to tell if your scissors are actually sharp—hint: test the tip, not the middle.

Pinking shears make an appearance too, because those zigzag teeth deserve some love. And yes, we’ll bust a few myths along the way—cutting aluminum foil won’t magically sharpen your blades. Sorry.

There’s even a whole bit on how to clean and oil your scissors so they last forever and don’t squeak like haunted sewing room ghosts. If you treat your scissors right, they’ll treat your fabric right.
