Anyone familiar with the Lyari gang war has heard the name Jango. A name linked with cruelty, betrayal, and extreme violence. What most people don’t know is that Lyari did not produce one Jango, but two. The first was Abdul Jabbar, known as Jango. A dancer by profession, famous for performing the traditional Leva dance at weddings. But when he entered the gang war, his love for dance took a horrifying turn. Jabbar did not just kill his victims; he humiliated them. He forced his targets to dance before shooting them, and then danced beside their bodies. For him, murder was a celebration.
Jabbar Jango worked with both Rehman Dacoit and Ghafar Zikri at different times, switching loyalties to survive. He was smart, ruthless, and almost untouchable. Police cases piled up against him, including murder, extortion, kidnapping, and terrorism. His brutality crossed all limits when he murdered his own in-laws on suspicion of informing the Rangers. His death remains a mystery, officially declared a road accident, though many believe he was quietly eliminated.
The second Jango belonged to the newer era of the Lyari gang war. Umair, also known as Kala Jango, was a modern-day gangster. He used social media, filmed his killings like trophies, and terrorized entire neighborhoods by walking openly with armed gangs. Linked to the Kashif Dada group, his network was involved in drugs, weapons, and militant funding.
Unlike old-school gangsters, Umair Jingo relied on fear as branding. His videos, weapons stockpiles, and public displays of power made him one of the most dangerous shooters of his time. Eventually, police surrounded him in Jahangirabad. A fierce gun battle followed, and Kala Jango was killed on the spot. His hideout revealed massive arms, explosives, and drugs, exposing the scale of his operation.
