Old Valyria was a mighty empire located on the eastern continent of Essos, known for its advanced civilization, powerful magic, and mastery over dragons. The Valyrians were unparalleled in their ability to control these majestic beasts, which they used to forge a vast empire that spanned much of the known world. Their capital, Valyria, was a city of splendor, filled with towering spires, grand temples, and breathtaking architecture. However, the height of Valyria's power and prosperity came to a catastrophic end in a cataclysmic event known as the Doom of Valyria. In a single day and night, the great civilization was shattered by a series of volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. The doom itself was foreseen by Daenys the dreamer, when Daenys Targaryen was a maiden, she had a prophetic dream of Valyria's destruction by fire. The Doom left the Valyrian Freehold in ruins, and the once-mighty empire was reduced to ashes and rubble. The reasons behind the Doom remain shrouded in mystery, but its impact was undeniable: the world was forever changed, and the surviving Valyrians were scattered across the continents.
