Coil Tapping vs Coil Splitting: Explained & Demo’d

“Coil tapping” is only something that can be done to single coil pickups that have been built with a tap: when winding, the coil can be tied off at one point (tap) then continued to wind to the full output and then the guitar can be wired to access each output. “Coil splitting” is turning one coil off of a humbucker that’s built with four conductor wire.
