From 1st August 2025, the process of generating a Universal Account Number (UAN) has completely changed. Now, employees no longer need to depend on their employers to create a UAN. The EPFO has made it mandatory to use Aadhaar-based Face Authentication via the UMANG App for UAN allotment and activation.
