Описание к видео I had an emergency C-section last time and a scheduled C-section this time. Will I feel any pain?

You mentioned that you had an emergency C-section last time and you’re going to have a scheduled C-section for this delivery and you have some anxiety about feeling pain during the C-section. And perhaps one of the reasons why you have more anxieties is because you have time to think about it and to look forward to it, whereas before you didn’t and it just happened and it was over. And the chances of you feeling pain during a C-section are very very very slim. There are two forms of anesthesia that can be used for a C-section, and the preferred form is an epidural. An epidural is very very safe for you and your baby and there are minimal risks associated with epidurals. The alternative choice is general anesthesia and there are a lot more risks associated with that for you and your baby. General anesthesia is usually reserved for emergencies only and epidurals are easy to plan on when you have a scheduled patient. And most labor and delivery units have the patient come in a couple of hours before the scheduled procedure time and that gives the nurse time to prep the patient and get them ready. That gives the anesthesiologist time to get the epidural in and to let it simmer and be all ready for the scheduled C-section time. And if the patient is still feeling more than they should when it’s time to start operation, the anesthesiologist can give more medication to the woman so that she’s completely comfortable and ready for the C-section. Of course, at that time you can also talk with your nurse and the anesthesiologist about your concerns and, based on their knowledge of your circumstances, they can give you tailored information and advice to put your nerves at ease. I hope the very best for you and if you have more questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at facebook.com/IntermountainMoms and recommend us to your friends and family too.
