Why should I use a mortgage broker or mortgage advisor and why would I not just go directly to my bank for a mortgage?

If you are looking for the best deal on your mortgage then it's like lots of other things we buy, we want the best deal. Especially when this will most likely be the biggest commitment of your life and the thing that will cost you the most amount of interest in your lifetime.

There is nothing wrong with starting at your bank. At least if you start with your bank, you will be armed with the information you need to make sure that when a mortgage broker presents you with options, you already know what you have been offered.
