Carters Steam Fair Grand Finale

A short video of our trip down to the Spectacular Carters Vintage Steam Funfair on 29th October 2022 located on the edge of Prospect Park, Reading. This was to not only the last show of the season but there Grand Finale as they end there touring career with hopes of permanent site in the future for there Fairground attractions, which take a hammering from been dismantled & reassembled many times during the year. Despite this the overall condition was absolutely excellent with extraordinary attention to detail every where you looked, from different animals depicted on the inside neck of the wooden horse's on the 1895 Tidman Gallopers. Along with the amazing safari, jungle scenes painted on the top displays really made this a beautiful sight to see in person, this was Zoe Favourite ride.
Another ride that i was familiar with was my favourite of the fair which was the Savage's Steam Yachts again with excellent artwork all around it. Its 1 of only 2 remaining the other used to coming to Pickering Traction Engine Rally with the Harry Lees name above it. This is an absolute formidable ride which took me by utter surprise the first time i went on it think as its old it only be steady how wrong i was especially if your sat at the back where the magnitude of its power is enhanced as it hurls you up into the sky almost vertical when it gets up moment it doesn't free fall but is rather put into gear pull back down for descent back to earth then hurtling you back up to the top again & again with turn more impressive than the last along with the sound of the engine making distinct chuffing noise ever time it shifts in direction.
The Skid was popular ride that night with a que going all the way around the outside.
Although the Octopus & Chairoplanes weren't as terrifying as the Incredible force and might of the steam Yachts i found them Nauseating with there round & round motion a long with the spinning sensation of the Octopus .
Charlies Favourite ride was the Super Sonic Jets which you could choose too make go up and down at your will with flick of lever, & also the baby Octopus ride. The whole day was an amazing experience with day been a bit quieter but a lot easier to get on the rides without queuing but as dusk set it turning to night it brought with it an incredibly atmosphere along with an epic display of fireworks that most would end the night with as the starting point gradually getting bigger, better & louder which accompanied with fairground working at the same time made for some breath taking sights to be hold along with the varied music choices playing throughout the fair made for unbeatable weekend away.
