Описание к видео 22 Savage Arrested For Murder Says It Was Self Defense

BAKER, LA (WAFB) - Investigators with the Baker Police Department have arrested three people in connection to a shooting late Tuesday night that killed one person.

Officers were called out to the shooting that happened in the store's parking lot in the 3300 block of Baker Boulevard near West Azalea Avenue just before 10 p.m. Tuesday. Police say 20-year-old Richard Phillips, of Baker, was shot in the chest and taken to the hospital.

Police Chief Mike Knaps said Phillips was still responsive on the way to the hospital. However, he died less than 24 hours later.

Chief Knaps confirmed that the incident began as a dispute started seven weeks ago over a flyer for a birthday party. He added that the incident was captured on surveillance camera and showed Phillips unarmed.

Walter Williams Jr., 19, told police that he was walking with Phillips to the store when a vehicle pulled up. Both MacArthur Johnson, 19, and Charmaine Wilson, 19, were in the vehicle. Johnson and Phillips talked about the dispute and all seemed well, according to Williams.

According to police, Williams said a little while later, Phillips then felt uncomfortable and went to talk to Johnson again. He told police that when Phillips confronted the suspect, who was said to be sitting in the front passenger seat, Johnson allegedly fired a handgun and hit Phillips.

Williams said he and Phillips ran from the scene. He was later able to identify Johnson for police as the alleged gunman.

Police located the suspect's vehicle in Baton Rouge. They reported that it had "obvious damage" from the shooting to the front passenger window.

Police also found the suspected murder weapon hidden at a location. According to police, a witness said Wilson allegedly gave directions to that location after leaving the scene of the shooting.

A witness told police that Johnson and Wilson were allegedly planning to claim self defense by falsely accusing Phillips of being armed. However, when police confronted Wilson with evidence, they say he changed his statement and denied seeing the victim with a gun. Police say Johnson admitted to shooting the victim, claiming it was self defense, but his accounts did not match up with the video footage the police had of the shooting.

Johnson, of Baton Rouge, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and obstruction of justice. Wilson, of Baker, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

Williams, of Baker, was also arrested and charged with obstruction of justice for telling police he was unarmed during the incident despite a witness seeing him with one. Police were unable to find the handgun where Williams told detectives he had hidden it.

All three suspects were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prisons. No bonds have been set at this time.
