Meet Journalist Tim Rogers: Nicaraguan Revolution or Repetition

20 years after the Sandinista Front for National Liberation (FSLN) Revolution in Nicaragua, Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega is back in power. While he has declared his rule as the second phase of the Sandinista revolution -- a democratic, socialist, and Christian Nicaragua -- the country struggles to maintain democracy. Ortega controls all four branches of government and has undermined constitutional checks and balances, resulting in his unconstitutional election last November.

Over the next five months, Tim Rogers will evaluate whether or not the country has finally found its own path towards development based on social justice or whether Nicaragua is simply repeating the past.
