Wainwrights Coast to Coast - Day 15, The Lion Inn to Littlebeck

Day 15 was from The Lion Inn to Littlebeck, 17 miles away.

It was time to hit the trail again after a rather warm night and a half-eaten breakfast. It was already heating up but thankfully it was pretty breezy which was great for me but not good for getting any drone shots that day.

The first 9 miles to Glaisdale was a high-level route across the stunning Yorkshire Moors, the heather was starting to blossom and the moors had a faint hint of purple to them. Dropping down to Glaisdale I got to the local shop and got a bottle of water and a vaguely cool can of Cola. I'm glad I wasn't dependent on this shop for a resupply.

Following the trail now along the Esk Valley Way was an undulating walk through the woods to Egton Bridge and then a dusty stone path to Grosmont. The Grosmont Station cafe was a very welcome break from the sun and provided an excellent lunch stop, the most I'd eaten in two and a half days.
Now it came to the climb up out of Grosmont which was surprisingly long and steep but the views offered as I steadily gained altitude sort of made up for it.

Sleights Moor and crossing the A169 gave me my first view of Whitby, the moor is a rough surface and I'd imagine that when wet is not too pleasant. I had made great time that day and reached Littlebeck by early afternoon. It was around another kilometre to Intake Farm where I had a room booked as well as an evening meal and breakfast.
The food surpassed anything I'd had along the entire trail as it was homecooked, and loads of veg was available (something very lacking elsewhere).
