9.5 Hydrohalogenation of Alkynes | Organic Chemistry

Описание к видео 9.5 Hydrohalogenation of Alkynes | Organic Chemistry

Chad covers hydrohalogenation of alkynes in this lesson. He reviews hydrohalogenation of alkenes which involves the Markovnikov addition of hydrogen and a halogen across an alkene and the anti-Markovnikov addition of HBr with a peroxide. He then proceeds that both of these reactions can be performed on alkynes either once or twice depending on how much of the reagents are used (1 equivalent or 2). Finally, Chad also shows how with an internal alkyne Markovnikov and anti-Markovnikov don't apply as both sides of the alkyne are equally substituted and therefore a mixture of products results.
