"Pan On The Move"(1972), Its Journey And Impact - A 50th Anniversary Tribute to Dr. Ray Holman.

Описание к видео "Pan On The Move"(1972), Its Journey And Impact - A 50th Anniversary Tribute to Dr. Ray Holman.

The story is about Dr. Ray Holman's composition of "Pan on the Move", the first "own tune" composed by a pan arranger back in 1972, going against the tide of steelbands performing mainly the songs of calypsonians before then. The move eliminated the boundaries/limitations and presented the idea that pannists/arrangers could compose their own music for the instrument, causing a ripple effect in the pan world which gave rise to the likes of Dr. Len "Boogsie" Sharpe composing and arranging his own music, Ken Philmore and several others doing the same. It is a story to cherish and preserve, told by Dr. Ray Holman and Dr. Len "Boogsie" Sharpe themselves. An acoustic performance is also included of the song remade for this documentary, with Ray and Boogsie performing together in this project. Incidentally, during the making of this project, they both received their honorary doctorates from the University of the West Indies. 50 years later the story of this song, and its impact comes alive in this video.
