Steph Curry - Phenomenal Floater

Описание к видео Steph Curry - Phenomenal Floater

Steph Curry is the NBA’s first unanimous MVP. He’s also the first guard since Steve Nash to win back-to-back MVP awards (and along with Magic, only the third point guard to win the award consecutively). He’s the most lethal offensive weapon on the highest winning regular season team of all time. Historic seems genuinely easy for the Davidson Wildcat at this point: he is not only a member of the vaunted 50-40-90 club (sometimes also known as the 180 club), he’s in even more rarified air, by joining role model Steve Nash, and current coach Steve Kerr*, in the 50-45-90 club. Is that not impressive enough? Well, Curry is the first member of the group to also LEAD THE LEAGUE in scoring during a 180 season.

NBA champion Stephen Curry is capable of scoring in every conceivable way, with an ease that seems to almost erase logic. I decided to lock in on one particular component of his scoring: the floater. His ability to get his jumpshot off lightning fast is terrifying, but he seems to get his floater off just a fraction faster. He can launch over anyone and everyone, whether a defender is draped on him, or ramming into him in midair, off of one leg (a la Steve Nash), or a two footed hop, with either hand. Steph’s floater is a waking nightmare. His handle is ridiculous, and combine the two with an ever growing fearlessness, and you have an absolutely awesome player, whose every single move can be dissected, and thoroughly studied.

I remember his two scoop shots against Denver in the 2013 playoffs. Neither of them were really floaters, but both had the height of regular teardrops. I remember both shots were over the outstretched arms of active big men, and he had one with each hand. That should tell you that from early on, Steph has been cooking defenders with his phenomenal floater, and I hope it’s time you take notice.

The highlights are of the historic 73-9 season, and up until game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.

*Kerr technically just missed the minimum number of free throws and field goals taken, but whatever. 50-50-90 is still impressive on it's own.
