Welcome to Iguazu Falls! One of the most important destinations in Argentina, Brazil and South America! We have seen many waterfalls during our travels. Many waterfalls apart from the Niagara has amazed us especially the ones in Iceland. However, none has impressed us as much as Iguazu Falls. These falls on the Iguazu river make up the largest waterfall system in the world, consisting of 275 waterfalls. You can see the falls from both Argentina and Brazil. On the Argentinian side you will be walking over the falls and on the Brazilian side you will see a panoramic view of the falls.

To get to the falls in Argentina you can either hike the 2km trail from the entrance to the first falls or take the Ecological train to it. We took the train. Its a short but beautiful ride. You can also take take boat tours or helicopter tours to see the falls.

From the station you start walking on the trail which winds its way over numerous falls. The most famous of them is called the Devil's throat for which you have to take the train to the next station. We were unfortunate not to see that because the trail was closed for repairs for the damage caused by floods.

Iguazu Falls has been voted as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Along the trails you may encounter wild animals and birds like toucans and coaties. We saw coaties at one of the visitor centres. They roam the area in search of food that visitors usually give them but you should not feed them for safety reasons. They are wild and definitely not the friendliest of animals.

The Iguazu river acts as the border between Argentina and Brazil here. We hired a taxi from the our hotel to take us to the Brazil side and then drop us back to our hotel. Its a short 45 min drive to the Brazil side of the falls.

This is the Brazilian entrance. Here instead of trains there are these pretty looking double-decker buses which take you to close to the falls. All along the trail you can see a panoramic view of the falls. The trail culminates to the base of one of the bigger falls. The trail is much shorter on this side. Seeing the falls from both sides gives you a complete perspective of how beautiful and massive these falls are.
