Kandu was founded by Shachar Bergman and Yaniv Sharabi – two artisan musicians who found a way to combine their greatest loves: music and design. They created their first cajón for Abe Doron, a good friend and former drummer on the Riverdance world tour. Since then, Kandu has grown from a backroom idea into a world-leading cajón maker and instrument innovator. Their drums and instruments have found their way into the hands of many top local and international musicians, and they are sought after and played by leading percussionists throughout the world. The four initial lines of cajons have grown into a treasure trove of unique creations, each one designed to be played, shared and loved by musicians, educators, drum circle facilitators and anyone looking to join the beat or find their own rhythm. The Kandu workshop is located in a tiny village called Ma’ale Zvia in Israel’s Western Galilee, a region of breathtaking beauty, where Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Druze residents coexist in peace and mutual respect.
