Shane: Hey guys. Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2016 Keystone Cougar X-Lite fifth wheel trailer and I want to walk through how to install the Max Air vent cover. These are going to allow you to use your vent open at all times, even while you're traveling, which most of the time you can't. Once you're taken off, you don't have a cover, you have to close it because it could break the lid. It's also going to prevent your vent cover or vent lid from cracking over time or having to be replaced over time.

It's going to be UV resistant, very durable plastic that's going to hold up in all weather conditions. What I really like about it is when you're out camping, I like the smell of fresh rain. If it starts raining, maybe it's a cool day like it is today. We don't want the air conditioner on. I'm going to open all of our vents and our windows.

If it starts raining, we have to close our vents because if you don't have a cover, that rain's going to go right inside the vent and get inside of the camper. With this cover here, we can leave our vent open, enjoy that fresh smell of rain and enjoy the cool air coming in and out without having to turn on our air conditioner. These are going to come in black, smoke or white. It's going to have a nice aerodynamic design. So it's going to cut down on wind drag when we're traveling. You notice on the backside we have a vent opening.

It's going to have a screen in it. This is going to prevent any bugs from getting potentially inside our camper and if we're camping somewhere and they have a lot of trees, we won't have to worry about any leaves or anything going inside either. This vent cover's also going to come with all the necessary hardware to get it installed. Very simple installation. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get it installed.

Once it's in, you're going to be ready to go. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's walk through how to get it installed. To start our installation, you want to open your vent just a little bit. We're going to take our cover. You want the angled part facing towards the direction of travel. We're going to set it on top. We're going to push it back just a little. You want to make sure you're not going to push it all the way back because you want your lid to open and not get caught on the vent part of the cover here. We're going to have some little brackets like this. We're going to take them and line them up in the spots we're going to be using. So what I have in place is I have them lined up with this hole and this hole. That way if we have to pull out this way we can adjust it to these two back holes, doing the same thing on both sides. We'll pull this off. Once we got our brackets in the proper location, we're going to take a 3/16 drill bit and we're going to drill a hole right through the frame. We're going to take one of the small Phillips head bolts, a small lock washer, flat washer and a nut. I'm going to put this through the bracket like that. On the inside we're going to put a flat washer. We're going to put on our lock washer. What I'm going to do is I'm going to slide this up like that because we want our vent to sit off of our top to make sure we get air flow underneath of it and we won't have any water pull up or anything like that. Once we get that on, we're going to repeat the process for the three remaining brackets and then we'll take a Phillips head bit and a nine millimeter socket and tighten them into place.Once we get all of our brackets in place, we're going to take one of these bolts. We're going to slide it in like that into each slot. We're going to take our vent cover. Make sure your bolts are coming up through the holes and these are carriage bolts. So they're going to have square head
