Pakistan will privatise all state-owned enterprises, excluding strategic entities, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's announcement. The decision expands on previous plans that only targeted loss-making state firms for privatisation. PM Shehbaz chaired a meeting on privatisation process of loss-making state enterprises, emphasizing government's role in creating a business and investment-friendly environment. All federal ministries were directed to cooperate with the Privatisation Commission to facilitate the process. The privatisation programme for 2024-2029 now includes power distribution companies.
