During the partition of India in 1947, Punjab and Bengal experienced extreme chaos, resulting in one of the largest migrations in history. In Punjab, the migration was particularly brutal, with massive attacks against Hindus and Sikhs in the western region, leading to the loss of lives of an estimated 500,000 to 800,000 people as communities retaliated against each other amid fears.
