Folkestone: Shepway Green Party Kent won control of Folkestone and Hythe District Council (FHDC) on promises of openness, transparency and community. My experience since then has been the opposite.

Emails to councillors linked to Shepway Green Party Kent often go unanswered or are diverted to officers and other departments. In my view this breaks democratic accountability and leaves residents without clear decisions. This video sets out my case, shows the paper trail and explains how simple questions about council policy and housing enforcement were pushed around instead of being answered.

I have kept full records of dates, messages and requests for a meeting. I tried to resolve this quietly first. When weeks went by with no proper reply, I took this public so other residents in Folkestone, Hythe, Sandgate, Romney Marsh, New Romney, Dymchurch and Lydd can see what is happening. The point is not drama, it is basic customer service, tenants rights and local democracy.

My asks are straightforward:
a direct written response to the questions already sent
a short meeting with the portfolio holder and a senior officer present
a simple, published standard for response times so people know when they will hear back from FHDC and Shepway Green Party Kent councillors

Power should mean better service and accountability, not closed inboxes and ignored residents.
