this is why GOTS certified organic cotton isn’t trustworthy anymore. GOTS definitely have standards, but it means nothing if their cotton is fake organic.

Hustlers will always be hustlers but sadly, because of the ongoing issue of cotton scamming in India you can never really know if your organic cotton is real or fake unless there is 100% traceability. But even if there is traceability it could be a falsified document.

In short: non organic cotton is being sold as organic

If you want true traceability, look for regenerative organic certified cotton, biodegradable clothing or local small scale suppliers who might not be certified but offer traceability to their cotton farm.

This is an ongoing political issue in India right now, but it’s not a new problem. and on a big scale like this it’s hard to crack down
