I finished the first draft of a manuscript that's really important to me.

On Thursday I finished the last chapter of a first draft of a manuscript that's really important to me on DID and cult torture and now I'm just typing up those chapters. I wrote a lot of extra chapters that I didn't think I would be writing so I have more to type up.

This is very much a first draft; I'm already wondering is there too much trauma, do I need to delete some of it, and do I want to do what I did in my first version of this where I have mini scenes from the viewpoints of personalities, or do I want to make it from just the main character's point of view with occasional losing time. I haven't decided yet.

This is going to take me multiple edits before I'm ready to either submit it to a publisher or share it with my agent.

Writing a book that's really important to me takes a lot of emotional energy, psychological energy, especially for all the triggers for me, and a lot of time.

I don't think people often realize how much time a book can take and how much of of our souls we can put into books.
