During the Monsoon Session of Parliament on July 29, 2025, Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivered a commanding speech in the Rajya Sabha, detailing India’s resolute response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack through Operations Mahadev and Sindoor. Shah revealed that Operation Mahadev, conducted on May 22, neutralized three Pakistani terrorists, including Suleman alias Faizal, an A-category Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, in a coordinated effort by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police in Srinagar’s Harwan area near Dachigam National Park. He confirmed the terrorists were Pakistani nationals, backed by voter ID numbers and equipment traced to Pakistan, directly countering Congress leader P. Chidambaram’s doubts about their origins. Shah accused Chidambaram of protecting Pakistan, asking, “What is Chidambaram implying? Who is he trying to shield?”

Shah praised Operation Sindoor, executed from May 7 to 10, as a precise strike that obliterated nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists, trainers, and handlers without civilian casualties. He emphasized India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, noting that the operation was halted after achieving its goals, not due to external influence. Shah highlighted a pivotal moment on May 10 when Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) contacted India’s DGMO, pleading for a ceasefire, captured in the phrase “Ghutno ke bal DGMO ko phone kiya” (Pakistan’s DGMO called on its knees). This, he asserted, underscored India’s military supremacy and unwavering resolve.
