Hemlines have been one of the most important elements of the fashion silhouette of any historical period. Hems also helps clothes hang properly. In today’s Sew Noob episode I will show you how to construct a double-turned hem. This hem is also known as a double-fold hem or turned-and-stitched hem.

A raw edge, such as a hem, should be neatly finished according to the fabric characteristics and garment style. Note that this hem is mostly suited to light weight fabrics. As this hemming method adds weight to the hem, which will add too much bulk on garments made from heavier fabrics.

In this video, I also show you how to make your very own hem guide, which will make hemming garments a breeze!
