After the end of the twenty-year occupation of Afghanistan by forces led by the United States, the metastasizing of the terror threat and Re-Talibanisation of Afghanistan presents new challenges to peace and security in South Asia and the world at large.
Geopolitical tensions in the region may also give rise to new challenges in Central Asia. The stand-off between India and China with conflicting territorial claims across border areas, the continuing tensions between India and Pakistan, Nepalโs border dispute with India, and the issue of political recognition of the Taliban in Afghanistan present serious challenges to India and its foreign policy. Additionally, the rise of religious fundamentalism poses serious challenges in the region and within the states.
The webinar focused on the dynamics of peace, conflictโanalysing the intersections of geopolitics, law, culture, and diplomacy, aimed at generating multi-disciplinary insights and perspectives on international law and South Asian studies.
